Twin Falls is perhaps best known for the September 1974 attempt by Evel Knievel to jump the nearby Snake River Canyon in a specially-modified rocket cycle. Watched by millions on TV, the attempt ultimately failed following a premature deployment of Knievel's parachute. The foundation of the launch ramp, which lies on private land, can still be seen.
Daredevil attempts aside, Twin Falls has long been a center for agriculture with six of our areas ten largest employers involved in growing and processing food. Set in fertile soil the Magic Valley has grown from its roots and is now a leader in other fields as well including education, health care, transportation, and retail services.

Name a species, strain or type of trout and it will almost certainly be found in Idaho. From beautiful mountain lakes to the streams flowing in the bottoms of some of America’s deepest canyons, trout in all their forms lure anglers to Idaho waters. Warm water species like Bass, Crappie, and Bluegill are also abundant throughout Idaho and are fast becoming a favourite sportfishing pursuit. The primary location for both species of bass are along the Snake River drainage ranging from South Central Idaho through South Western Idaho into the North Central region making the Twin Falls area a prime thoroughfare for these feisty fish. Crappie, Bluegill, perch and other spiny rays can be found almost anywhere there is a small impoundment of water throughout Idaho.
