B.A.S.E Jumping
For the truly adventurous a new taste of excitement is gaining a growing group of followers here in Twin Falls thanks to its unique location near the Snake river Canyon. The Perrine Memorial Bridge crosses over the Snake River Canyon marking the northern entrance to Twin Falls, Idaho. At 1500 feet in length, the longest span bridge in the United States' west stands 486 feet above the Snake River. The Bridge has particular significance for B.A.S.E jumpers (B.A.S.E. stands for “Building. Antenna. Span. Earth.” the four surfaces from which participants usually leap) as it is possible to jump there every day of the year, legally. With an excellent landing area and the services of a boat crew to retrieve you after each jump, it’s B.A.S.E jumping paradise and the perfect place to learn. Be sure to check in with local outfitters for more information before taking the plunge!

City of Rocks
A short drive east will bring one to a most unusual site. Rising from the valley floor strange rock formations dot the landscape like alien spacecraft and cluster together in giant natural monuments and towers. Beginning in 1843, City of Rocks was a landmark for emigrants on the California Trail and Salt Lake Alternate Trail and later on freight routes and the Kelton, Utah to Boise, Idaho stage route. Some wrote their names in axle grease on rock faces, and their signatures can be seen today. The area's historical and geological values, scenery, and opportunities for recreation led to its designation as City of Rocks National Reserve in 1988. City of Rocks offers scenic walks near the historic California Trail and opportunities for wildlife watching, photography, world-class technical rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, picnicking, and camping near fantastic rock formations.

Malad Gorge
People pass the 652-acre Malad Gorge State Park in the blink of an eye, never suspecting the spectacular canyon views that await them just a mile off the highway. Malad Gorge is open for hiking, picnicking and day outings. The Malad River crashes down stair step falls and into the Devils Washbowl; then cuts through a beautiful 250 foot gorge on its way to the Snake River, 2-1/2 miles downstream. Views of the gorge are best from the sturdy bridge that crosses the canyon. You can take a short hike to discover nearby fingers of the gorge where crystal-clear springs produce ponds and streams. Malad Gorge is located just 38 miles east of Twin Falls. Guided tours can be arranged by calling the park.
